PITTY PARTY WINS GNL S16!

Published

GNL S16 has officially finished! Pitty Party has secured the win~

At the start of the final week it looked like Pitty Party would certainly take the win. However, as games were played it became clearer and clearer that ApeLords was not going down without a fight. They got closer and closer to overtaking Pitty Party. It came down to the last 3 BO3 series before Apelords was finally eliminated from the first place race. If they were not stopped by Madoka there was a real possibility they would have taken the win.

Congratulations to the whole Pitty Party team including Doctajones, Tlebbet, Joboss, Nudal, disproved, eworm, o11ec, soulkeepa, Elffy, elravel, gjoira, SquidVicious, GoAgainGreg, Nugsnapper, Chino, Ceryni, Kaggolinx, lodolama, Fallen, coldstorm, thehitpack, winwake, Dock, Lion, DrLinguine, Sill, CerebralPaul, Smitejr, UrMotherMom, Alexander, bambamdusch, Kenny_G, Oldgreg, and Fattsrussell.

Here are the point totals:

If you would like to see all the players and teams you can check them out here.

Pitty Party’s Emote

This season had our biggest turn out to date.

This is by far the biggest season we have ever hosted. It was not even close in comparison. We had such a large turn out that we had to go from 6 to 8 teams. We had to also add 2 more weeks worth of games to accommodate everyone.

This season we had roughly 270 players participating. These players came from a little over 50 different countries. They played 7 weeks of games with over 530 BO3s being completed. We put enough strain on our discord bot that it went on strike the last week of games and we ended up having to manually update everything.

At the start of the season we had players ranging in MMR from 73 w3c mmr to approximately 1750.

Over 26,000 games on w3c were played by our players during that 7 week period (we only kept track of the w3c account with which they signed up under and only their main race stats). Numerous more hours were spent in custom games and training in voice chat.

36,479 lines of chat occurred in the players private team channels. Many more occurred in the main public GNL chat room.

We had 19 captains in total spread over 8 teams. On top of that we had an additional 29 floating coaches who along side the captains would help train the players.

The unOfficial GNL Site and Some GNL Statistics

Once again, like last season, LongJacket made an amazing site which tracked the activity of the teams and players individually. Check it out here . Longjacket also made our players their very own ladder achievements to encourage laddering. Not only does that site track GNL stats but if you click around you can find build orders and creep routes!.

Longjacket made this website as a way to track players stats and growth and also to give incentive to the teams to play as many ladder games as possible. This season (like last) Giggling Goblins once again clearly won and played the most games.

In total, GNL Players played 26,392 ladder games during the 8 weeks of the season.

Jer clearly played the most games of the season with over 660 ladder games being played and averaged about 11 games per day.

Special shoutout to Numper who had the daunting task of coming in with the lowest mmr in the league. He started the season at 73 mmr but through hard work (and some NorthDrakkar strategies) was able to achieve 391 mmr by the end of the season.

To try and list the achievements of all the players would take too long. Due to players constant training (and a little help and prodding from coaches) we had many players who were able to go up by several hundred mmr over the course of the season.

Plans going forward

There will be a GNL S17, but we will be taking a break. There are several other tourneys that will be running during our down time. MrMike’s SMF league will be taking place and then soon after that Fountain of Manner League (run by Wontu/OldGreg/Grinchy and the boys in FoM) will happen.

In the meantime there are a ton of other events that will be happening. Gym will continue hosting events such as King of the Hill and potentially other cool tournaments and projects.

Of course all the captains and coaches (and players) will still be hanging around in gym and ready to practice and train and just hang out and game so come join us there!

We are always looking for new projects/events to do in Warcraft 3, on our Discord, or on our site. If you have any suggestions or ideas message one of the admins on Discord. If you would like to help out as well with any of the things being done in Gym, just message Barren or one of the other admins.

If you do not know what GNL is or are interested in taking part in the future this post explains it all.

Come hang out with us on Discord. The games never stop there. You can also follow us on Twitter.
